Lead Self-Lead Others article (below) is well worth the read for anybody!!! We discussed this at our Monday Motivational this morning. As I read aloud a couple of the questions I was certainly CONVICTED about the answers! I do have a huge goal in my Mary Kay business. AND it involves my family - from my very first Seminar I have visualized MY FAMILY on stage in Dallas Texas at our National Sales Director Debut. I've even drawn stick figures with my husband, children, grandchildren and my Dad on stage with me. I spent part of the Easter weekend with my dad and brothers and their families. As I left I realized that I can't keep waiting......... if I want my dad on stage I need to get busy!!!!!!!!!! Although he is a very vibrant, healthy, hard working 73 year old I can't wait to move forward. When I was the Queen of Director Sales in the entire Williams National Area he escorted me on stage and oh my goodness.........he was so proud!!!
He talked about work ethic and doing the right thing even when the right thing was hard. I'm not sure how time has gotten away.......have I been trying to "manage" my time? I do believe it is time to "manage" myself. My daughter, Heidi and her little 5 month old were with me and she said as we were leaving, "Mom, what do you have to do to take Papa Mac on stage?" I have to find 9 more women in my unit that want to become Sales Directors and teach them to find 7 more women to build into Sales Directors. WOW - that sounds so simple, so doable. Sometimes my focus becomes this next skin care class, this next Mary Kay meeting, the next Mary Kay event (Seminar), organizing my office, working on my email list, etc. All of those things do get me to my goal BUT.........in order to do it NOW I need to focus on the END RESULT EVERY DAY!!! What is YOUR end result???? Queens Court of Sales? Red Jacket?? Sales Director??? That focus leads to passion which leads to energy to do what we do. That passion is what draws others to you and builds your business.
Let's tend the garden and give God something to grow by managing ourselves.
Self Leadership and Time - Dr Nathan Baxter
Time management is really a misnomer - the challenge is not to manage time, but to manage yourself against time.
Building a successful Mary Kay business requires self-management. Do you use your time wisely? Every woman has the exact equal amount of time every single day. However, some women have figured out how to better manage themselves to get the most out of their days.
The truth is, you can't manage time but rather you must manage yourself to get the most out of the time you have.
Here are some helpful questions to get you started in the area of self-management:
What area of your business suffers the most due to a lack of time?
Do you believe that the amount of time devoted to working your business is in right proportion to the success that you are wanting?
How much more time do you need to invest in your Mary Kay business each week?
Where do you typically waste the most time in your week?
What are some practical ways for you to better manage yourself and free up the additional time you are needing?
Who do you know that would be willing to help you make these changes in your life?
Have you identified the 3 most important things that you must do every single day to build your business?
Building a Mary Kay Business is much like growing a garden. It is really a partnership with God. He is willing to do the growing but He invites you to do your part, which is cultivating you and your business. If you do not do your part, He will allow your business to fill with weeds and not yield the fruit He intended your business to bear. No work, no fruit!
What is one thing you could do (that you aren't doing now) that if done on a regular basis, would make a tremendous difference in your business?
